LUAA Biography Award Winning London Urban Arts and founded by an Award Winning Lyricist, Kerry O’Brien better known as Lady MC is an arts organisation making the arts more accessible to pupils, regardless of which backgrounds they come from, and nurturing new talent in positive and productive ways
The London Urban Arts aims to create a fun and safe environment for young people where they can participate in creative pursuits to gradually build confidence and self-esteem whilst encouraging their artistic abilities in different areas such as performance, dance, and writing to name but a small few.
Through attending courses or workshops, the pupils are able to interact and channel their energies into creative projects with positive outcomes and learn to refine their talents under the watchful eye of trained experts.
We combine the use of arts to deliver PSHE & Citizenship in a creative way that not only equips pupils with the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in public life. But it allows them to use the arts as a tool to develop skills whilst encouraging them to take an interest in topical and controversial issues and to engage in discussion and debate.
We cover issues such as their rights, responsibilities, duties and freedoms and about laws, justice and democracy, we use various art forms, from drama, music, to media to engage and encourage participation.
So they are equipped to play an active role in the life of their schools, neighborhoods, communities and wider society as active and global citizens.
It is aimed at pupils in Key Stage 2-4 we link directly to the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum.
