Our Roman Soldier Storytelling Workshops gives children the opportunity to have a Roman Soldier visit their school.

Lucius Felix Silvanus of the 20th Legion, Valeria Victrix will introduce himself to the children and will talk about how he joined the Roman Empire.

Set in 72 Anno Domini, Felix will explian to the children about his body armour including his Galea (Helmet), Lorica (Body armour), Scutum (Shield) and finally his Gladius (Sword).

Following on from this the children will then be asked to 'Ad Signa' or stand to attnetion as Felix then teaches them a marching drill whilst chanting “SENATUS POPULUS QUE ROMANUS”!

Felix will also talk to the children about other aspects of life in Roman times such as working as a slave, food, bathing and many of the games that soliders used to play.

To finsih the session, Felix will then arrange the children to create their own ampitheatre to create a mock Gladiator battle.

Our Roman workshop is a great way to cover this topic for children at Key Stage One or Key Stage Two
