Look no further for an engaging activity which encourages co-operation and problem solving in a workshop that involves IT, art, literature, media and any subject or topic that you require?

Melody Smith Animation provides stop-motion animation (think Wallace and Gromit) workshops for primary and secondary schools, academies, school holiday activities & clubs, specialist groups, youth & community groups and any other group of people of all ages who are interested in animation.

We can also work in schools who want to make the most of their Flash or Photoshop software packages or CC membership.

Run by an experienced teacher, Melody Smith Animation can provide bespoke workshops tailored to your class or group’s specific needs, considering any curriculum objectives and outcomes which you aim to meet and any special needs of your group.

If you aim to produce a short animation we recommend a day long workshop which includes planning using a storyboard, art work and the actual animation. Depending on your project and what you are trying to achieve, we will provide support and guidance for any preparation that you want to do with the class before the day. We find the more input the group has, the more invested they become in the project. However, if time is an issue, we can provide backgrounds and other props as required. We provide plasticine and other materials as required, although it is usually a good idea to have coloured paper and other basic art materials (scissors etc.) available as we have found the attendees’ inspiration will often stretch even beyond our imagination!

The attendees can also be in the animation themselves if the organisers have parental permission (for under 18s).

We provide 6 animation workstations for each workshop with computers, HD cameras and all of the other needs for animating including green screens.  All we need is a large room (classroom size) and tables for the equipment. An interactive whiteboard is useful.
