About:

Just Anim8 is an animation production studio and workshops provider currently developing quirky, vibrant and engaging animated stories for younger viewers. As a social enterprise, we give back to local communities by running school and community outreach programmes using animation to develop schoolchildren’s storytelling and communication skills.

We are able to provide animation workshops that can be completely tailored to suit your needs, from half-day sessions to a five-day workshop and variations in between. We can also offer workshops as a course of regular, once-a-week sessions. Our animation workshops are suitable for schools Key Stages 1 to 5, and can readily link into the STEM, STEAM, Sciences, Literacy and Language, Mathematics, Citizenship, RE, History, Geography, Art, Music, ICT, Design, Technology and Sport, in the school curriculum. For us to be able to run an animation workshop in your school, you will need to provide a suitable room with electrical power outlets and tables. We will bring along a full media kit including: I-Macs or I-Pads equipped with specialist software for capturing and editing animation, digital cameras or webcams, lighting rigs and a range of modelling materials.

Our main animation technique in schools is stop-motion animation using a range of physical materials including plasticine, wood, leaves, paper, sand and any household or school-based object. We provide all equipment and any other materials. Stop-motion animation is a hands-on technique, as such the children are able to stay focussed and on topic. We also offer hand-drawn and 2D animation focused workshops.

Over the past few years we have successfully delivered animation workshops to schools in the Midlands, Greater Manchester, the South West, and Greater London. Our feedback from working in schools has always been positive. School staff have observed improvements in team-working skills, communication skills, organisational abilities and self-confidence in pupils who have participated in our workshops.

Testimonials:

“Film animation is fun! You get to use your own ideas. We got to storyboard our ideas, build our characters and see our stories come to life! We also learned a lot about being patient!” (Kya and Areeba, Wellbeck Primary School)

“The animation sessions were a huge success. The children were full of excitement, telling me what new skills they had learned and what their animation films were going to be. The sessions maintained their interest and engagement, were very hands-on and the children were all focused and actively learning, which was brilliant” (Rebecca Gittins, Welbeck Primary School)
