About:

Have you ever stopped to think what it would be like to be a monk at Lindisfarne monastery? To try and survive the very first Viking Raid?

?Have you ever considered how it would feel to stand shoulder to shoulder with King Alfred the Great to face the Great Heathen Army in battle? What emotions would you feel if you were in a shield wall?

?Now you can with Imagining History. We will teach your students how to survive a Viking Raid.

Through interactive activities, engaging games, drama, performance and role-play the children will learn first hand:

  • ?How to hide your monasteries' Holy relics from a Viking war band.
  • How to aim and fire your sling to defeat a Hurscarl warrior
  • The workshop will culminate an epic battle. Up to forty students will experience exactly what it would be like to fight in a shield wall!

Imagining History Workshops:

Imagination is the greatest tool a child possesses. Here at Imagining History we have crafted a series of school workshops that allow children to unlock their imagination and experience history in a brand new way.

?Each of our fully interactive half-day sessions immerses the children within an historical period - utilising drama and performance techniques to bring the people, places and events of the past to life. Watch with amazement as our practitioners utilise everyday items and the imagination of your students to create ancient pharaohs, terrifying terror birds and entire pantheons of gods.
