In 2013 Heartbeat visited 25 Lancashire schools delivering 66 workshops to over 2900 children aged 4-16.  Health habits are established at a young age and continue into adulthood and along with the cardiovascular disease profile of Lancashire it is essential that young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices.

All of our workshops are age specific and incorporate functional skills where appropriate (English, Maths and ICT).  Reception aged children learn about what inside their body, their heart, lungs, bones and how to keep them strong and healthy.  Key stage 1-3 workshops include a Healthy heart workshop where children are taught how their heart works, exercise, the cardiovascular system and the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and smoking on the heart. There is the option of including subsequent workshops such as: emergency first aid skills, components of fitness, understanding food and what’s in my drink.

Each pupil receives a workbook and the opportunity to win some Heartbeat prizes throughout the workshops for good work and quiz results. For more information or to book a workshop please contact us.
